Pets N Pals: From Our Breeders to Your Family
Transparency at Pets N Pals · Staunton, Virginia
Choosing a puppy starts with knowing the people, practices, and care behind that decision. Here is how our family-owned store selects puppies, works with veterinarians, and helps families prepare for life together.
A local family business
Get to know the people behind the puppies
Pets N Pals has served the Shenandoah Valley since 1989. Emily first volunteered at the store as a teenager, and she and her husband Chris became its owners in 2018.
Our business now focuses on puppies, with guidance that begins with breed selection and continues after purchase. We want families to understand the process and have a place to bring their questions.

Sourcing and the journey here
Breeder relationships built through personal contact
We work with licensed breeders and use multiple phone interviews and personal home visits as part of our selection process. Our owners and staff meet breeders, ask questions, and see the puppies and their parents firsthand.
- Personal visits to breeders who welcome our team
- Current breeder inspection reports kept on file
- Puppies hand-selected and picked up directly
- Private transport with our team throughout the journey
We do not use third-party delivery or public transport for this trip. We also never ship puppies to customers. Meeting a puppy in person is part of bringing one home from our store.

Care and veterinary involvement
Health information that goes home with your puppy
If a puppy shows a concern, including unusual behavior, we promptly take them to a veterinarian. Every puppy leaves our store with a clear bill of health from a licensed veterinarian.
Our puppies are current on vaccinations, deworming, and kennel cough prevention. Each puppy is microchipped, and families receive a packet with medical records and important puppy information to share with their own veterinarian.
Our puppy page also describes an ongoing health guarantee. Ask our team to explain the written agreement and its terms before making your decision.
